We understand that a literal translation of the campaign theme may not reflect the meaning it is intended to convey. Affiliates are encouraged to use their judgement when translating, "Where There Is a Wish, There Is a Way" to use a translation that conveys the original message in their language, if the literal translation does not.
Make-A-Wish International refers to the results of the 2015 Israel Wish Study and the testimonials provided by medical professionals in the "Transformative Power of Wishes" video. Both of these assets can be found on the Wish Impact page on worldwish.org.
Stories of wish alumni are incredibly powerful when supporting the message that Make-A-Wish is not a last wish. While some affiliates may have stories on wish children who had their wishes granted years ago and are now adults, other affiliates may not have these types of relationships with former wish children. Whether a wish alum had their wish granted one month ago or ten years ago, the impact of their story is profound. Affiliates are encouraged to share any wish alumni stories they have access to, regardless of how long ago the wish was granted.
Affiliates are welcome to use the PSA across multiple platforms, including social media channels, affiliate websites, in emails/enewsletters, etc. It is not limited to just broadcast media opportunities. There will be multiple versions of the PSA provided, including a :30 and :60 cut, that affiliates can choose from, depending on the final platform. If you have any questions around what version of the PSA is best for your proposed application, please contact Jose Martinez, Director, Digital at jmartinez@worldwish.org.
The PSA voiceover has been recorded in English and Spanish. Both recordings will be provided to affiliates.
Yes! This year's PSA exclusively features a voiceover over imagery, and as a result, affiliates can replace the voiceover with one in their language. Make-A-Wish International will provide a transcript with time codes for affiliates who have the means to record their own voiceover. If your affiliate does not have the capabilities to record their own voiceover, we recommend providing translated subtitles.
Yes! Affiliates are encouraged to create subtitles for the video in their own language. Make-A-Wish International will provide a transcript with time codes, which affiliates can use to transcribe the subtitles in their language. After translating the subtitles, affiliates can send the translation to Make-A-Wish International to apply to the video for their use.
Yes! This hashtag is a great way to encourage your supporters to get involved with promoting our mission and supporting our efforts throughout the month of April. Corporate partners can share wishes they have helped grant. Volunteers can share memories of the first wish they helped to grant. Anyone in your network can share their Make-A-Wish support using the hashtag #WishWednesday. The more people who use the hashtag, the greater our collective reach.
Yes! Affiliates can certainly use other hashtags in addition to #WishWednesday on Wednesdays in April - just make sure #WishWednesday is included to help drive global engagement and help Make-A-Wish "own" Wednesdays throughout the month. Of course, on the other days of the week, affiliates are encouraged to use other hashtags to help drive traffic to their posts.
Affiliates can use #WishWednesday on social media beyond the month of April, but all concentrated efforts from a global perspective will be limited to April.
Affiliates are welcome to drive a call to action for donations across social media using #WishWednesday. The only limitation is to ensure any donation asks are not tied to a Disney wish. In support of our commitment to Disney and due to legal restrictions, we are not permitted to share Disney wish stories with a fundraising ask.
Disney has confirmed they will donate up to US $1M as a result of this campaign. Disney is highly involved in donor designation of their campaign funds. We are working with the global Make-A-Wish/Disney team to finalize this distribution model and will share with affiliates as soon as we can.
Affiliates will be asked to activate much like they have for #ShareYourEars: posting on social media, sharing in emails and newsletters, and (if applicable) sharing through local media and PR channels.
Make-A-Wish as a global organization has committed to “all hands on deck” globally on World Wish Day. Affiliates will be expected to hold 29 April on social media and PR to kick off this campaign. What this means is we are asking affiliates and chapters to hold off promoting any other corporate campaigns on this day. Affiliates are welcome to share information around World Wish Day, Chris’ founding wish, and individual fundraising initiatives. The only limitation is promoting other corporate campaigns on this day.
